BRAND & WEBSITE STRATEGY
SQUARESPACE WEBSITE DESIGN FOR SOMATIC & TRAUMA THERAPIST
Nicola wanted a website that reflected the calm she creates for her clients.
As a somatic and trauma therapist, Nicola works with big-hearted, highly sensitive people navigating anxiety, past trauma, and painful relationship patterns. Her website needed to hold that same quality of safety: calm, warm, and free from judgment.
I serve heart-centered entrepreneurs, and Nicola's work was an instant fit. We intentionally started with brand discovery first before the website itself ever took shape.
-
Before any design work began, we took a deep dive into the essence of Nicola's work — her purpose, her values, her voice, and the client she was truly meant to serve. All of it became her Brand Blueprint — a living document holding her story, her values, her voice, and her vision, for Nicola to return to whenever she's creating content or reconnecting with her why.
-
Nicola's color palette didn't come from a trend board. It came from her own life. We pulled tones from one of her favorite t-shirts and from the colors on the box of her Wild & Sacred Feminine oracle cards, shaping them into a cohesive, calming palette:
Linen & oat — soft, grounding neutrals
Aqua — a soothing accent that echoes breath and water
Coral — a warm pop of energy, used with intention so it never overwhelms
Even the CTA buttons were designed with care — outlined in coral, filling in with coral on hover — a small, warm gesture that mirrors the feeling of being welcomed.
-
The final site feels calm without being sterile. It’s gentle enough that a highly sensitive visitor feels instantly safe, while still clearly communicating Nicola's expertise and the hope she offers.
Our Collaborative Process
Essence first
We began with a deep dive into Nicola's purpose, values, voice, and vision — captured in her personal Brand Blueprint, before any visual design began.
Held with care
Her color palette was pulled from Nicola's own life, and every image — including her thoughtfully planned photoshoot — was chosen to reflect who she really is.
Built to hold space
Every detail, down to the CTA hover state, was designed to create safety and warmth, so the site itself reflects the calm Nicola offers her clients.
Shelagh worked with me to develop the branding for my business and has also created a beautiful website for me. She has been a delight to work with, very responsive and calm and brought an ease to the whole process. I'm very grateful that I found her!
